One important step of beauty care ritual is to never go to bed with make up on (especially us women, but there are also men that practice it:)), you must have heard this already. So, I guess you know what you should do: use a facial cleanser for your skin type, remove it with water or cotton tissues, continue with tonic and only after that apply the skin care that suits you. This is sometimes called 1-2-3 skin care ritual.
We would have a similar ritual for body as well, right? We enter the shower and then exfoliate, clean with soap, apply body lotion and we are fresh and ready to go bed? But are we really? Oh I think not! We must brush our teeth as well, floss, and splash. We are done now. Well assuming that our hair didn’t need additional care and we had combed it already, yes we think we are ready to go to bed now. We turn off the light and we fall asleep. Do we? Well, sometimes it is not that easy!
We took care and prepared our face and body to sleep, but what about our mind? I am sure you have experienced nights when you just couldn’t fall asleep as there were too many bothering thoughts crossing your mind.
So here comes the main question: Do you have a bed time ritual for your mind?
I am sharing mine and I encourage you to share yours. I don’t have just one ritual as it always depends on what kind of “make-up” I had to wear that day. Sometimes a nice evening walk on the shore or in a park is enough. Occasionally I fancy watching a relaxing movie before going to bed. At times, talking with a friend or my beloved one is the thing that would calm me and help me fall asleep quietly. Though in majority of cases reading is the most used and efficient bed time ritual for me. I have tried yoga few times and also meditation but I feel I have bit of way to go on accomplishing those two. At this point a mix of relaxing music, pleasantly scented candles and a good book make up my favorite 1-2-3 bed time ritual.
You see, we all face stressful moments during the day to varying degrees, absorb lots and lots of information and register good and bad news all the time. If we don’t devote proper time to clean and organize thoughts in our minds before sleeping, our body also won’t get the proper rest. An overactive mind at night will not do us any good!
